Protective Strategies
A Scribe may protect a King in several ways.
Alliance
One way is by helping a King create an Alliance. When all the necessary conditions are met an Alliance may be created. A Scribe moves to a different square in the Dungeon, and the King moves to that Scribe's original square. A Charlatan King then substitutes the original King on the main chess board!!
The Charlatan King assumes the original King's role on the playing board while the original King remains protected inside the Dungeon.
A King (or Scribe) "hiding" inside the Dungeon cannot become captured by the opponent!!
Helping the original King create an Alliance with a Charlatan King is one way that a Scribe "hides" its King. Another way is discussed on the next page under Hiding the King.
Only one Alliance is allowed per player per game.
Charlatan Kings are not allowed to create Alliances.
Kingdom
A Kingdom is created when a player creates both an Alliance and a Castle. Castling of course is already a part of the BASIC chess game. Creating an Alliance and a Castle at the same time is permissible.
